Where is 2-1-1 Available?

Calls are received from everywhere in each of the participating counties (Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall & St. Joseph). You may reach your United Way 2-1-1 by dialing 2-1-1 from any landline or cell phone.

You may also communicate with an Information and Referral Specialist through Instant Messaging technology on this website.

What types of questions can be answered by 2-1-1 Call Specialists?

Call Specialists will provide comprehensive information and referral services to callers about a variety of issues, including:

  • Basic Human Needs: food, clothing, shelters, rental assistance, utility assistance...
  • Support for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities: adult day care, congregate meals, Meals on Wheels, respite care, home health care, transportation, homemaker services...
  • Support for Children, Youth and Families: childcare, after school programs, Kids Care (health insurance programs), family resource centers, summer camps and recreation programs, mentoring, tutoring, protective services...
  • Physical and Mental Health Resources: health insurance programs, Medicaid and Medicare, maternal health, Children’s Health Insurance Program, medical information lines, crisis intervention services, support groups, counseling, drug and alcohol intervention and rehabilitation...
  • Employment Supports: financial assistance, job training, transportation assistance, education programs...

Who Funds United Way 2-1-1?

Each participating United Way contributes funds to 2-1-1. For Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall and St. Joseph County, funds are allocated to 2-1-1 from contributions donated to each United Way.

Additionally, United Way of LaPorte County is supplemented through a generous grant provided by The Duneland Health Council.

Who Manages United Way 2-1-1?

Each participating United Way has established a long term operating agreement with the Regional 2-1-1 Call Center at United Way of St. Joseph County to provide 2-1-1 services for their residents.
